LAB TECH CHARGED WITH FAKING RESULT IN DRUG CASE

NEARLY 8,000 NEW JERSEY CRIMINAL CASES IN JEOPARDY

New Jersey state police say a lab technician falsified the results in a drug case last December, causing nearly 8,000 drug convictions in New Jersey to come into question. The technician, Kamalkant Shah, was apparently observed by investigators writing test results for a substance that he never tested, a process known as "dry labbing." Shah was relieved of his duties on December 10, and has remained suspended without pay ever since, though it is believed that he has officially retired. He has not been charged with a crime.

POLICE TARGETING SEX TRAFFICKERS IN NEW JERSEY

In a number of sting operations around the state of New Jersey, police have nabbed and arrested individuals in various sex trafficking schemes. Some kept women essentially locked in rooms in motels across state lines, advertising them online as available for sex with older men. Others brought young girls from Mexico, luring them with the promise of a new life in America, only to put them to work as prostitutes along the Jersey shore. One such sex trafficking ring pimped girls as young as 13, according to state officials.

According to law enforcement officials, the gambling operation was mostly online and involved bets exceeding $ 2 billion.

As social media grows, with new platforms for communication springing up yearly, social media stalking also grows in numbers. RESISTING ARREST AND OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE IN NEW JERSEY

In New Jersey, if you interfere with a law enforcement officer in the performance of his or her duty, or if you refuse to cooperate, you can face criminal charges, from resisting arrest to obstruction of justice to hindering. Unfortunately, because of the subjective nature of the offense, you can often be charged with resisting arrest or obstruction of justice if the arresting officer doesn't like you or feels threatened in any way.

SNOW REMOVAL BRIBE TAKES COMPANY DOWN

It doesn't pay to bribe New Jersey Transit officers, as Edward O'Neill, age 53, found out the hard way. O'Neill, president of PPW Contracting in Lakewood, pleaded guilty to bribing NJ Transit terminal manager Donna Schiereck.

BRIDGEGATE - GOV. CHRIS CHRISTIE NOT ABOVE THE LAW

The Bridgegate scandal has grown into a federal investigation as of January 24. Bridgegate refers to the sudden George Washington Bridge lane closings that caused horrific gridlock in Fort Lee and appear to have been put in place to "punish" Christie opponents. Evidently, some in Governor Chris Christie's administration need to learn how to play fair.
