Red-light running allegedly leads to accident

On Behalf of | Jan 9, 2020 | Auto Accidents

A serious accident in New Jersey recently happened because, police allege, one of the drivers ran a red light.

The crash took place on Sunday, Jan. 5, right around 7:00 p.m. It happened on Route 70, in Brick Township, and involved a 24-year-old man and a 58-year-old woman.

The man was driving down Van Zile Road, heading north, according to the police. He was supposed to stop at the right light when he got to Route 70, but, for some reason, he failed to do so. He was behind the wheel of a 2003 Honda Element.

At the moment that he passed through the intersection, the woman in her 2012 Buick Verano was also going through, heading west down Route 70. The Honda slammed into the Buick and sent both cars violently spinning across the road.

In fact, that impact was so powerful that it ejected the young man from the Honda. When emergency crews arrived, they found him lying on the pavement.

Both drivers were assisted by emergency workers and rushed to the trauma unit at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. Police, meanwhile, closed down the road for an investigation. They have asked anyone who may have seen the crash to come forward and give a report to help them in this investigation.

Accidents like this should never happen. Traffic controls are clearly set up to keep people safe. Unfortunately, that’s not always enough. Drivers make errors and put others in harm’s way all the time. Those who suffer serious injuries need to know how to seek compensation for medical bills and other costs.
