9 hurt in multicar crash in New Jersey

On Behalf of | Oct 4, 2019 | Auto Accidents

Nine people recently suffered injuries in a multicar pileup in New Jersey, with six of them heading to the hospital for treatment.

According to reports, the accident happened on Friday, Sept. 27. It took place in the evening, right around 8:30 p.m. That information comes from the Paterson Public Safety Director. Police reported that the crash was close to the intersection between Lawrence Street and Rosa Parks Blvd.

Three cars were involved in the crash, along with a pedestrian. Three of those who were offered medical attention on the site refused it. The emergency crews took the other six to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center.

The incident is still being investigated, so the officials did not want to give out too many details, but they did note that the pedestrian suffered the most serious injuries. It appears that one vehicle struck another, and then that second vehicle hit the pedestrian.

This story illustrates some of the serious risks that you face not just in the car, but any time you are near the road. People often talk about pedestrian safety and the need for pedestrians to remain alert and follow traffic laws. While those things can help, this shows that you cannot always avoid an accident. In a situation like this, the pedestrian could be injured in a split second in a wreck that they never expected.

If you do get injured in an accident, whether you are in a car or walking near the road, you may be able to seek out financial compensation for pain and suffering, medical bills, lost wages and much more.
