Bridgegate – Gov. Chris Christie Not Above the Law

The Bridgegate scandal has grown into a federal investigation as of January 24. Bridgegate refers to the sudden George Washington Bridge lane closings that caused horrific gridlock in Fort Lee and appear to have been put in place to “punish” Christie opponents. Evidently, some in Governor Chris Christie’s administration need to learn how to play fair.

No, it’s not okay to take revenge on those who didn’t vote for your guy. Two top Port Authority appointees extended the traffic jams in Fort Lee for three whole days, in September, under the guide of a bogus four-day traffic study.

The punitive closing of three lanes of the world’s busiest bridge during morning rush hour caused emergency medical vehicles to be delayed, potentially leading to the death of at least one Fort Lee woman.

The governor says that he had no knowledge of this event, but evidently someone in his administration thought it was okay to take revenge on political opponents.  This “mistake” could bring Christie down, and take him out of the running as a presidential candidate.

It appears that the governor’s deputy chief of staff, Bridget Kelly, heretofore a near unknown presence with the public, and Port Authority Deputy Executive Director David Wildstein, and another top deputy, ordered the sudden, unannounced lane closures of the George Washington Bridge with the purpose of causing gridlock in Fort Lee.

Both Port Authority appointees have resigned, and Jan 9, the governor fired Kelly and denied any knowledge of the conspiracy.
